- Read ChemMatters article about Liquid Crystals
- See if you can use excel to create a graph of density (y-axis) vs. period (x-axis) for Si, Sn, and Pb. Make a "scatter plot." Then rignt-click on a data point, and click "Add trendline." Select exponential or maybe quadratic? Whatever fits the data well. THEN you can predict what germanium would be!!! Try to answer the lab Qs, just right on the back of the handout. We are not doing a formal write-up on this lab; we are counting it as an in-class assignment.
- Start reading Chapter 5 on the Periodic Table... We will be moving through it quickly, as much of it is review.
