By now, you should have been able to collect some good research on your chosen Spoken Language Endorsement topic. Please use this lesson to begin writing (typed) your speech. The DPRN structure is a good place to start that enhances your argument because it includes both personal and detached perspectives. Use a range of linguistic, structural and rhetorical techniques to make your speech interesting and engaging for your audience. (Look at all the notes we put together on the OneNote last Friday.)
You might also want to start considering the three areas that you'd like to be asked about in the Q&A part of the task.
Top tips:
- Remember to cite your evidence with reliable sources, e.g. 'According to international charity, Water Aid, a staggering 72% people globally do not have access to fresh drinking water within half a mile of their home.'
- Balance your speech with a passionate and logical evidence-based approach: subtly win your audience over, don't lose them by telling them that the world is an irrevocably awful place to live!
- Address both sides of the argument, but make it clear where you stand on the topic. This might take shape as you research, and it's okay to change your mind as you find out more.
